COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS

Vocational Evaluation Services
Linda J. Lockner, M.S. Ed, C.R.C.

The goal of Community Employment Options is to assist individuals in making vocational choices, whether as a young person entering the world of work or a mature worker needing a career change due to disability, economic factors, or other reasons.

Vocational assessments typically include a combination of informational interviews, standardized paper-and-pencil testing, hands-on testing, and observation.  Vocational exploration may follow testing to examine training needs and options, labor market dynamics, and other factors for determining vocational goal feasibility.  A written report is provided with testing results/recommendations to guide the individual toward a career field.  It may be used by the individual as well as vocational rehabilitation counselors, school counselors, teachers, parents, employers or other interested parties.

Evaluations may include:

LIMITED EVALUATIONS include a brief informational interview, testing, scoring and observations of the individual’s performance in the testing situation.  A written report includes test scores, interpretation, and recommendations for goal achievement.

COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATIONS include an in-depth interview, gathering information on employment and training history, medical and disability conditions, and other barriers to employment.  Following testing, there will be follow-up contact(s) with the individual or referring party for refining goals and providing vocational guidance.  Through the process, the individual will develop a short list of tentative career goals which are narrowed to a viable goal with strategies for accomplishment.  The comprehensive written report provides test scores, interpretation, expanded observations of the individual’s performance in the testing situation, and recommendations for goal achievement.

INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENTS may be administered on an as-needed basis, rather than a whole test battery.  Please contact us for details.
